INVITATION to the
Discussion on Cultural Differences and Similarities
Meeting of Multicultural Educators
June 14 and June 21, 2005 10:30 ~ 12:00
On June 14 and June 21, we would appreciate it if you could participate in our class, the Meeting of Multicultural Educators. The class will start at 10:30 AM and finish at 12:00PM. Below I will write a little detail about the topic of the discussion:
There are 35 students in this class divided into 7 learning groups. Each group has a region that they are studying about this semester and in the process of inviting a person from a country of their region of specialty for a class discussion. Below is a list of the groups' regions of specialties and their guest's country.

Each group has asked 30 people to say the first three images they think
of when they hear their guest's country. For example, the group studying
1) Which comments that people wrote about your region/country are you proud of?
2) Is there anything written that you think is not completely true or wrong? If so, which comments?
3) Is their anything you would like to say about your region/ country that has not been written? If so, what would you like to say?
We are still in the process of analyzing the results. We will finish analyzing them on June 7 and will give them to you shortly afterwards. We hope that you can participate and look forward to seeing you on June 14. If you have any questions please contact James Hall.

今年6月14と６月21日に岩手大学教育学部で実施されます「異文化理解」の授業でのグループディスカッションに参加・ご協力をお願いしたいと思っています。時間は朝の10:30〜12:00までです。
下に当日の内容について述べさせて頂きます。
本授業の受講生は35名であり、7つのグループに分けられています。それぞれのグループは、専門地域があって、その地域にある国の方をディスカッションに誘って、6月8日には、文化や習慣などについてディスカッションをする予定でおります。
それぞれのゲストの専門地域とゲストの国は下記の通りであります。

各グループは今までの授業の中で日本人30人に、ゲストの国の名を聞いたら最初に思い浮かぶ三つのイメージが何であるかという質問をきいていました。授業はそのような内容で進めております。
そこで6月14日の授業に参加・ご協力頂ける方は、当日、次の3点について意見を5分くらいで述べてください。
１）あなたの国・地域について書かれたコメントの中で、どれをあなたは誇りに思いましたか。
２）書かれたコメントには実際本当ではない、又は明らかに間違っているというものがありますか？
それはどれですか？
３）自分の国・地域について、コメントには書かれていないが 皆に伝えたいという内容がありますか？
あればぜひ学生に伝えてください。
学生はまだ学習の結果をまとめている途中ですが、次回のクラス（6月7日）までに終わる予定です。
まとまり次第、結果はお知らせしたいと思っています。
