British have individuality. Mr. Keeth said “we can’t think that all of British is same, and each of them have personality.“

: He said “British are not interesting in Japanese and Japan.” His images of Japan are only Sushi, Sake, Karaoke, and Sumo.

: The name of nation

Formal name of the nation is The United Kingdom of Britain and Northern Ireland.

England is one of four distinct regions of the United Kingdom, which also includes Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland.

United Kingdom includes Wales, Scotland, and England. They are called “Great Britain”. And “Great Britain” and Northern Ireland is United Kingdom.

Union−jack stands for there are some countries in U.K . In Union-jack, a red cross on a white field is England, a white oblique line on a blue field is Scotland and red oblique line on a white field is a Ireland.

: Season

　U.K doesn’t have clear season. So we could say there are only summer and winter. From March, the time of day becomes longer and from May, summer starts. But there are very hot days and days which we need coats in summer. In Japan, we can see fall because of changing of tree’s color to red. But in U.K, because there are not so many trees, they seem not to see that fall is coming. And also it is said that the reason of changing color is that temperature goes down rapidly. In U.K, because temperature goes down slowly, trees in U.K don’t change its colors. In winter, they can feel warmer than temperature, because it is humid. It has not much snow. So there are on a few places to ski only in Scotland. Children go school and go back to home, because the time of dawn is eight a.m. and time of sunset is three p.m.

: Many people think food in the U.K. is bad. It is true. It depends on choice.

: Many people think people in the U.K. have many cups of tea and scone in the afternoon　everyday. It’s not true. Not every day but weekend and holidays only.

: He said Wales have dialect. Then we believe it, but it is not always right. For example,　Wales may think that England have dialect. And we tend to look at one side of matter.

History

: To begin with, the formal name of England is United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Why is England called “U.K”(United Kingdom)?

1. In the 9^th century, some kinds of ウェセックス region integrated England area of southeast of Great Britain and it was birth of England (Kingdom). And in those days, Scot and Pict made “Scotland”.

2.In the 12^th century, Ireland was planted as a colony by Henry�U.

3. In the 13^th century, Wales was conquested by Edward�T.

4. In the 1536, Wales was annexed by Henry �[.

5.During 1603〜1707, England and Scotland were ruled by a same king. But these two country were different each other.

6. In 1707, England and Scotland joined and became “Kingdom of Great Britain”.

7. In 1801, the kingdom annexed “Ireland” and became “United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland”.

8. In the 1922, Ireland (excepted Northern Ireland) declared independence from that kingdom. So, the name has changed to “ United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland”.
