First, as I didn't know about other countries, through this class I could understand that people are almost same, when they were born, but their lives are getting to change by various things sorround them. when I decided my group's country was Guatemala, I really didn't know where is it. But, now I thought the learning Guatemala benefited us. Because, all of people almost had undersatnd where is it about foumus countries like U.S.A or England and China But, Guatemala would be difficult for all of Japanese to image. So, for studying about Guatemala I felt world view to be wide. And , it was very interesting and fun to be able to discover new things to study the country I didn't know.

Guatemala was unnique country. But, it had some character like Japanese. It was that Masculine power distance was very high like Japan. So, Guatemala had some custom like a symbol of it. For example, the position sitting woman and clothes and so on. But then it had some interesting custom. Guatemala people don't have to give present of glass for people, because Guatemala had many volcano, so it had many earthquakes. And Guatemala can't bring camouflage uniform in country.

Because they don't like about war and battle. So, Guatemala's guest said that as Japanese don't have difference ethnic, this is difficult problem. We could learn intercultural difference from these.

I could learn many many things about other countries through this class. We could experience multinational class by joining other countries people. I'm pleasure of having this class. Thank you very much Mr.Hall

What you have learned about your countries and yourselves?

Honestly speaking, I never knew about Guatemala before taking this class. But I have learned many things through the class.

I found important thing is to communicate with people. Our group researched Guatemala before discussing with Mr. Cesar Perez, but we nevertheless had some misunderstandings. So talking with foreign people is the best way if we want to know about their country. In other words, we should talk to the other person without regard to nationality when we want to know about him or her.

Through the discussion with Mr. Cesar Perez, I felt he was proud of his country. He explained about his country, for example, geography, population, and so on. The most impressive thing is Maya civilization. It flourished in Guatemala and surrounding regions during the first millennium AD. After almost three centuries as a Spanish colony, Guatemala won its independence in 1821. So there is mixed culture in Guatemala. On the other hand, Japan is unitary state, so we have one culture. I learned that the difference may give rise to misunderstandings.

Mr. Cesar Perez imaged Japanese people were kind before he came to Japan. I seldom thought that Japanese people were kind, so I was very glad to hear that. I don’t find good points of Japan because I am in Japan, but I can know them objectively when I listened to foreign people’s speech.

What I have learned about Guatemala and Japan.

-Some Guatemala’s country scores of values are similar to Japan’s. (For example, Uncertainty Avoidance: Guatemala-101, Japan-92)

-Japanese society is rapidly aging.

-Japanese are one of the most industrious people.

-Japan has been Japan for a long long time ago. (Japan has never been ruled by the other countries.)
