Our group is Central America and Caribbean. We examined Puerto Rico.

Puerto Rico is the easternmost of the Greater Antilles such as Haiti, Dominican Republic, Cuba and Jamaica. The north side of it faces the Atlantic Ocean and the south of it faces the Caribbean Sea.

The capital is San Juan. The population of the country is about three million eight hundred and eighty thousand. The area of the country is about 8959 square kilometers, and it is half the size of Shikoku.

Puerto Rico was a colony in Spain one hundred years ago, but it became American territory after the war between America and Spain. So the official languages are Spanish and English.

Various races are coexistent, but racial discrimination is a serious social issue. In fact, it is said that black people can’t be a governor in Puerto Rico.
