STEP 1
Time: 40 Minutes
The purpose of this is to help your discussion run smother.
1. Write your initials on each card.
2. Cut the cards out and mix them.
3. Deal the cards to each member of the group.
4. Group members should take turns organizing the cards into the categories below.
  • Each member should explain why they chose to put a particular card in a particular category. If you do not understand what a card means ask the author.
  • For a card to be put in a category, everyone has to agree that the card belongs in the category. If someone does not agree with you, you can try to persuade her/him.
5. You can write in the answers on sheets A, B, and C.
Categories
1.Similarities
Common characteristics that either your home country shares with the other countries or that the other countries share with each other.
(Values, wealth, popular culture, behavior, music, history, etc.)
See Sheet A
2. Differences
A characteristic that you think only one country alone has.
(Values, wealth, popular culture, behavior, music, history, etc.)

See Sheet B
 3. Undecided
In cases where the members of your groups could not agree whether or not to put a card in the common or different category, put the cards in this category.

See Sheet C
6. When you have finished, look at what you have created and answer what you have learned about your countries and yourselves. Also, please answer what else you would like to learn. Please e-mail me your answer by July 27. Although you may write this individually, if you group could send all its members' answers in the same file it would really help JH.
