Teach your classmates about your country of concentration!
EVERYONE WILL HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO SPEAK

I Format

  1. Groups will divide into sub-groups of 2 or 3 members.
  2. Two subgroups will meet and exchange knowledge about their countries of concentration.

a.Each group will present for about 15 minutes and will have a total of 45 minutes to exchange information.

b.Please e-mail a summary or notes of your groupfs presentation by 7/20.

  1. The subgroups will reunite with their original group members and share what they learned.
  2. The main group should then discuss the following among themselves

a. Common characteristics of the countries you heard about and your home country. (Values, wealth, popular culture, behavior, music, history, etc.)

b. Differences between the countries you heard about and your home country.  (Values, wealth, popular culture, behavior, music, history, etc.)

c.   Common characteristics of the countries you heard about. (Values, wealth, popular culture, behavior, music, history, etc.)

d.  Differences between the countries you heard about. (Values, wealth, popular culture, behavior, music, history, etc.)

e.   What did you all learn about yourselves and your countries.
If your group cannot finish this conversation by 7/20, please come to MMCE on 7/27 to finish the conversation. I would also like each group to send me their summary of 4. by 7/27.

II Possible Content of Your Presentation:
(Your presentation time is about 15 minutes.  Everything listed below are suggestions. You can present some of the information below in some kind of quiz or game format.)


Basic Information

- Where is your country on the map? What are some of the neighboring countries? (You can give a geography quiz)
- Basic statistics about your country (use the On-line World Fact Book)

- What languages are spoken in your country, what are the ethnic groups?

- Quiz on business etiquette.

- What do you think are some misunderstandings that can occur between people of your home country and people of the country you are studying?

Experience
- Talk about your discussion with your guest:
- What are some images that Japanese people had of your country that were wrong?
- What were some of your guests' images of Japan?
- What was the most impressionable part of the discussion for you?
- Did any of the information you got from your guest differ from the information you found on the internet?

- What have you learned about yourself through studying your country of concentration or national values?

III Etiquette during your presentation
Speakers: Give your listeners the chance to ask questions. Remember that you do not have to present all the information in traditional format. You can also use games, quizes etc. to help your listeners learn about your country and its culture.
Listeners: Ask a lot of questions!
